Nigeria name 35-man squad list for CHAN qualifiers against Ghana; two players banned by the Ghana FA included

Head Coach of the Nigeria local national team, Salisu Yusuf has handed call-up to 35 to open camping for the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers against Ghana.

The list which is made up of 4 goalkeepers, 10 defenders, 11 midfielders and 10 attackers include former Inter Allies defender Isa Ali and forward Andy Okpe.

The two players who are currently on the books of Nigerian side Remo Stars were amongst several players banned by Ghana Football Association (GFA) for their involvement in a match of convenience against AshantiGold in the final game of the 2020/21 Premier League season.

In spite of the ban, the duo have been named in the 35-man squad who are expected to open camping in Abuja on Wednesday, August 10 for the games scheduled for Sunday, August 28 at the Cape Coast Stadium and Saturday, September 3 at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja.

The winner of the two-legged encounter will earn a berth at the 2023 CHAN to be hosted by Algeria in January next year.

Nigeria has failed to qualify for the last edition of the competition hosted by Cameroon, while Ghana has missed out on the last three editions.
