Prosper Narteh Ogum has said that he’s excited to return to Asante Kotoko after a year of being away.
The 45-year old was unveiled as new Head Coach of Asante Kotoko on Monday, August 7 in Kumasi, coming in as replacement for Seydou Zerbo.
The announcement marks the return of Ogum to the club. He led the team in the 2021/22 season and won the Premier League title, the club’s first since the 2013/14 season.
Speaking at his unveiling held at the Baba Yara Stadium, he expressed his joy and described the day as the best of his life after the day he got married.
“I’m overly excited and overwhelmed about this opportunity and nothing else comes close, probably the day I got married, but I have to say that I am excited to be here again,” said Ogum at his unveiling on Monday.
Prosper Narteh Ogum disclosed that he will try to build a formidable team that can compete both domestically and internationally in his first year at the club.
“My first year is to put together a very formidable team that can compete both domestically and internationally. However, you can’t be at Kotoko and not think of bringing success.”

Ogum went on to call on every lover of the club to look beyond the past and stay united: “Kotoko is a club we don’t support but we worship, and that is why I’m honored to be the head coach”.
“I am pleading with everybody that all of us should be united. The past is past. Let’s forgive those who offended us in the past and move on. That’s the only way we can take Kotoko back to its glory days,” he added.
Ogum will hit the ground running at the club on Tuesday, 8th August, when the team starts pre-season at Beposo in the Ashanti Region.
The new season is scheduled to kick off on Friday, September 15 and the Porcupine Warriors will play their first game of the season at home against returnees Heart of Lions.
