National Super Lightweight Champion Faisal Abubakar ‘Poncho Power’ returned to the ring with a dominate win against David Lartey in the co-main event of the DE-LUXY Professional Boxing League Fight Night 17 at the Bukom Boxing Arena on Saturday night.
Faisal was fighting for the first time since April 2022 when he floored Senator Agbenyo in the fourth round to become the National Super Lightweight Champion.
In the fight against David Lartey who was making only his second senior professional appearance, Faisal dominated the first two rounds, combining his punches perfectly and moving around well to lessen the threat of the tenacious David Lartey.
David Lartey displayed an improved performance in the third round but Faisal stepped his game up to pummel his opponent in the remaining three rounds.
Faisal won the fight via a unanimous decision, with the judges scoring the fight (60-55, 60-54 and 60-54). The win was the first win Faisal has secured via a decision since making his professional debut.
In the main event, Elvis Ahorgah won via a Technical Knock Out (TKO) against Sampson Amoako.
Other bouts saw Francis Akakpo beat Mandela Atulik, Musah Lawson stopped Evans Oware, Abdul Aziz defeated Eric Tettey Tetth, Aminu Quarshie floored Sampson Tettey after just 40 seconds into the bout and so on.
