Ghanaian international Mohammed Kudus was on target for Ajax in a 4-1 win against Heracles in the opening day of the 2023/24 Dutch league season.
Despite dominating large parts of the game, Ajax found themselves a goal down in the 45th minute, Mario Engels capitalized on an error by the Ajax defense to open the scoring.
Three minutes later, Ajax pulled parity. Jakov Meric smashed a jaw-dropping long-range shot into the top left corner.
In the 75th minute, Mohammed Kudus scored a beauty to give Ajax the lead. The Ghanaian who has linked with a move away from the club all summer controlled a sweet cross from Benjamin Tahirovic, before curling the ball into the net.
In the remaining minutes of the game, Ajax scored two more goals from skipper Steven Bergwijn. The second goal came from a spot-kick which came about after Kudus was fouled.
