Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has divulged that summer signee Mohammed Salisu is still not fit enough to feature for the Saints.
Mohammed Salisu in the summer transfer window sealed a £10.9 million move from Real Valladolid to Southampton. Since making the move, he’s yet to make an appearance for the club or appear on the bench.
Speaking to the press ahead of Monday night’s fixture against Wolverhampton Wanderers, manager Ralph Hasenhuttl revealed that the talented center-back is still not ready to make his Southampton debut, but has made big progress during the international break and is now closer than ever.
“He is still learning what we want to do here. It is not so easy as how we defend is not easy.
“I am happy he is here. He is a long term project and I am sure he will play a lot of games for Southampton.”
“He was training all the time with us and is doing more and more duels and everything,” said Hasenhuttl.
“We must have a look to see how his body reacts now. There is still a way to go, I think, for being match fit.
“But I am very keen that he was, for at minimum two weeks now, a part of the sessions.”
He continued: “He is a calm guy and is physically a very strong guy who shows, on the ball, the calmness we need to bring the decision making.
