The 47th edition of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) awards took place on Saturday, January 29, 2023 at the Accra International Conference Center.
The awards recognises, rewards and honors outstanding achievements of (deserving) Ghanaian sportsmen, sportswomen, teams and officials in various disciplines.
Ajax and Black Stars midfielder Mohammed Kudus was the biggest winner of the night, beating Joseph Amoah and Abraham Mensah to win the Personality of the Year award.

He also beat off competition from Black Stars teammates Thomas Partey and Andre Ayew to win the Footballer of the Year for the second consecutive time.
Hearts of Oak’s Daniel Afriyie Barnieh was named Home based Player of the Year for the second consecutive time, beating off competition from Yaw Annor and Ibrabim Danlad.

Ophelia Amponsah of Ampem Darkoa Ladies was named Female Footballer of the Year, while TV3’s Juliet Bawuah was recognized as the SWAG Sports Journalist of the Year.

Other awards saw Joseph Paul Amoah win the Athlete of the Year. Head Coach of Ampem Darkoa Ladies, Joe Nana Adarkwa was named Coach of the Year and so on.
