Despite the coronavirus pandemic, it was all joy and smile for Ghanaian midfielder Majeed Ashimeru and his club Red Bull Salzburg as the run riot against Austria First League (Erste Liga) side Austria Lustenau to clinch the Austria cup.
Red Bull Salzburg were no match for the Austrian Football Second League side as they scored 5 goals without an answer, with Ghanaian international Majeed Ashimeru scoring the 4th.
Red Bull took the lead in the 19th minute from a free kick at the edge of the box. Hungarian international Dominic Szoboszlai was the scorer.
Two minutes later, Red Bull doubled their lead courtesy an own goal.
Noah Okafor made it 3-0 just after the break, before the man of the moment Majeed Ashimeru made it 4-0 against his former side after striking a beautiful shot from the edge of the box.
Malian international Seidu Koita came from the bench to round things off with the 5th goal in the 79th minute.
The game ended 5-0. Red Bull Salzburg secured their first trophy of the season.
The triumph is Majeed Ashimeru’s first career silverware, there’s surely more to come.
