Posted by The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has disclosed that 2022/2023 betPawa Premier League Champions Medeama Sporting Club will represent Ghana in this year’s Capital City Cup in Washington DC, USA.
The Ghana Football Association offered the opportunity to the league winners to participate in the Cup competition, which will be staged on October 14, 2023.
In a letter dated July 14, 2023, Medeama SC wrote to the GFA to acknowledge receipt of the formal invitation to partake in the competition and to accept the offer to represent Ghana at this international stage.
As part of the competition, Medeama SC will face Washington based, DC United FC at their stadium Audi Field, becoming the first team not from Central America region to partake in the tournament.
In September last year, DC United partnered the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to launch the Capital City Cup where each year, the winner of Ghana’s Premier League will play DC United.
This year’s edition will be the third edition of the Capital City Cup. The first two editions played in 2021 and 2022 respectively were won by the hosts DC United.
