Medeama edge Remo Stars to take advantage into the second leg

Medeama Sporting Club (SC) defeated Nigeria fold, Remo Stars FC 1-0 at the Cape Coast Stadium in the first leg of the Preliminary round of the 2023/24 CAF Champions League.

The Ghanaian champions dominated the opening minutes of the game and went ahead in the 22nd minute, Jonathan Sowah hammered in a shot from outside the box.

Medeama continued to control the game and created some good chances but goalkeeper Bankole Kayode was at his best to ensure that his side went into the break just a goal down.

Remo Stars made two changes at the beginning of the second half and started the half with added impetus, coming close to getting the equalizer in the 49th minute, Sikiru Alimi failed to connect to a cross from Seun Ogunribide.

The remaining minutes of the game was cagily contested but Medeama held on to win 1-0 and take a slight advantage into the second leg to be played on Sunday, August 27 at the Remo Star Stadium.
