Posted by Norwegian first Division fold, Fredrikstad FFK has announced the signing of Ghanaian defender Maxwell Woledzi.
Maxwell Woledzi joins on a three-year deal from Portuguese side, Vitoria Guimaraes for an undisclosed fee.
The centre-back spent the last year with Vitoria SC in Portugal, after being brought in from FC Nordsjælland last summer. However he failed to break into the first team, hence his to move to to Fredrikstad FFK, where he’s looking forward to a new challenge.
“I am very happy to sign for a club like Fredrikstad. A club with great ambitions and demands. I think this is the right club and the right place for me to make the next step, and I am looking forward giving my best to defend the good name of the club and achieve what we all want here in FFK,” Maxwell told the club’s website.
Maxwell Woledxi had been on the wanted listed of Fredrikstad FFK for more than a year. Managing Director of the club, Joacim Heier is pleased of his arrival.
“We worked hard to sign Maxwell last year but were unsuccessful then. When the chance arose again now, it was an opportunity we could not pass up. In Maxwell, we get a player with an already high level and even greater potential.
“He has both physique, speed, dueling power and good skills on the ball. He has spent several years in Scandinavia, played on artificial grass in North Zealand and has experience from Scandinavia’s best league. In addition, he is a great person with good basic values. We are extremely pleased to get a player like Maxwell to Fredrikstad,” Joacim Heier said.
Maxwell Woledzi started his senior career at FC Nordsjælland’s at the age of 18. The youngster arrived from Right to Dream, the feeder side of the Danish fold.
In the Superliga, Maxwell played 29 matches before moving to Portugal to sign for Vitoria Guimaraes, where he struggled to get minutes.
At Fredrikstad, Maxwell will wear the jersey number 22 and his expected to make his debut on Saturday 29 July when FFK take on Moss in a friendly match at the Fredrikstad Stadium.
