Ghanaian midfielder Majeed Ashimeru featured for Red Bull Salzburg in a 3-2 defeat to Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano in the UEFA Champions league.
Despite impressing in Red Bull Salzburg’s 2-0 victory against Austria Wien over the weekend in the Austria Bundesliga, Majeed Ashimeru started the game on the bench.
Atletico Madrid took the lead in the 29th minute through Marcos Llorente, before Dominik Szoboszlai scored in the 40th minute to it 1-1.
Red Bull Salzburg took a surprise lead just 2 minutes after the recess, Mergim Berisha the goal scorer.
Five minutes later, the home side scored to make it 2-2, Joao Felix finished off a fine pass from Angel Correa.
Majeed Ashimeru came on in the 63rd minute for Zlatko Junuzovic, but his inclusion couldn’t earn Red Bull Salzburg a positive result in Madrid. Joao Felix scored for Atletico Madrid in the 85th minute to make 3-2.
The game ended 3-2, Atletico Madrid redeem themselves after losing 4-0 to Bayern in the first game, whiles Red Bull Salzburg slip once again.
Red Bull Salzburg will on Saturday welcome WSG Swarovski Tirol in a league fixture, before welcoming Bayern Munich to the Red Bull Arena in midweek.
