Liberty Professionals defender Paul Kwame believes the Black Stars will pull a surprise at the 2022 World Cup to be played in Qatar later this year if the right things are done.

The Black Stars in March secured qualification to the World Cup after edging Nigerian on away goals and have been drawn in Group H alongside Portugal, South Korean and Uruguay for the group stages of the competition.

Ahead of the tournament, Paul Kwame is confident Ghana can pull a surprise if things are done appropriately.

“I think we have a chance, obviously we played Uruguay and Portugal before. It’s not going to be an easy task, but if we call the right players and make the right selection, then we can make a mark,” the Liberty Professionals defender told KFM TV.

“If Ghana qualifies out of the group stage, we can cause a suprise and if we do our things right, we can get to the semis,” he added.

The Black Stars will start their campaign against Portugal on Thursday, November 24, before playing Uruguay on Monday, November 28 and South Korea on Friday, December 2.

The tournament will be played from November 21 to December 18, 2022.
