Head coach of Legon Cities, Bashir Hayford has provided update on Asamoah Gyan.
Asamoah Gyan joined Legon Cities on transfer deadline day. The 35-year-old since joining has had to battle with injuries. He hasn’t featured for the club since early December.
Speaking after Legon Cities’ 5-2 victory against AshantiGold, manager Bashir Hayford hinted that the veteran striker could be back before the end of the first round.
“Asamoah Gyan complained about groin just two days to our game so the physio sidelined him again for two weeks,” he told Accra based Hot FM.
“There’s no coach who will have Asamoah Gyan in his team and bench him, even if Gyan is 20% fit, I will use him.
“I can only say that hopefully, we might see him before the end of the first round”, he added.
Asamoah Gyan since joining Legon Cities has featured in 3 games, with all those appearances coming from the bench. Legon Cities will hope to have him back soon as they fight to avoid the drop.
The Royals currently sit 16th on the Ghana Premier league table with 9 points after 10 games and will be playing against Inter Allies on Sunday in their next Premier league game.
