Former Accra Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Sammy Adjei has been named as Goalkeeper’s trainer for betPawa Premier League side, Dreams FC.
Sammy Adjei agreed to join the MTN FA cup holders after successful negotiations.
The legendary goalkeeper has been tasked with nurturing and honing the talents of the budding goalkeepers at the club, a role he recently occupied at Kenpong Academy.
Sammy Adjei is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers Ghana Football has ever produced. During his career which started in 1997 and ended in 2013, he played for Hearts of Oak, Club Africain and Hapoel Ashdod.
The 42-year old is a cult hero among Hearts of Oak fans and is considered a legend of the club after winning the hearts of the club’s massive followers with his unparalleled performance in between the sticks.
Sammy won the famous CAF Champions League and Super Cup with the club in 2000 as he played influential roles in the post and was destined to play at the FIFA Club World Cup but fate caused the cancellation of the competition.
He also won a staggering 7 Ghana Premier League titles and 2 MTN FA cups with Hearts of Oak during a 12 year spell at the club.
At National level, he made 38 appearances for the Black Stars and was part of the team that qualified the team to its first World Cup in 2006 in Germany.
