Kotoko denied first win of the season by “stubborn” Eleven Wonders

A delightful performance from Techiman Eleven Wonders denied Asante their first win of the season.

After administrative reshuffling and excellent business off the field, the Porcupine Warriors needed to project that onto the field against a confident Eleven Wonders side.

Maxwell Konadu named a strong lineup, Felix Annan, Yusif Mubarik, Latif Anabila and Emmanuel Keyekeh were handed starts.

Ignatius Osei Fosu also named a strong team, Abdul Mugeese Zakaria, Frank Amankwah, Sule Musa, Ibrahim Salifu, Adu Boahen and Tetteh Nortey were handed starts, whiles Prince Okraku was named on the bench.

Eleven Wonders started the game the better and had the best opportunities in the first 30 minutes. Abdul Mugese was denied by Felix Annan and a goal bound shot from Samuel Boakye was blocked on the line.

Kotoko started to grow into the game and nearly had the opener in the 30th minute, a decent through ball from Adom Frimpong to Emmanuel Gyamfi was timely cleared by goalkeeper John Moosie at the edge of the penalty box.

Augustine Okrah, Kwame Poku and substitute Evans Adomako were presented with good chances to score before the recess, but none of them could make good use of the opportunity presented. The first 45 minutes ended scoreless.

The Porcupine Warriors started the second half much better than they played throughout the first half and were rewarded with the opening goal of the game in the 54th minute. Kwame Poku reacted quickly to a dead-ball situation, he picked a pass at the edge of the box, made some space for himself in the box and placed the ball in the bottom corner.

Eleven Wonders came back stronger and nearly had the equalizing goal in the 58th minute. A deflected shot from Adu Boahen off Abdul Ganiyu was splendidly kept out by Felix Annan.

Eleven Wonders continued to control the game, passing the ball around beautifully. The possession paid off in the 75th minute, substitute Prince Okraku grabbed the equalizing goal, he controlled the ball nicely in the 18 yard box and calmly slotted the ball into the bottom corner.

Both sides from then pushed men forward hoping to grab the winning goal but to no avail, the game ended 1-1. Kotoko fail to win their first game of the season. Ibrahim Salifu of Eleven Wonders was named Nasco man of the match.
