After being hit by series of uncontrolled circumstances, the President cup between Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko finally takes place today.

The rainbow colored dragons will finally be sent to stage by their head coach Kim Grant to renew their feud with old and bitter rivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the Kumasi Sports stadium as they seek to reclaim their throne as Presidential cup champions.

This might not be the Battle of Winterfell or the Massacre at Hardhome, but it is a battle to keep an eye on. After months of bragging and teasing, the old enemies reignite their old feud. Hearts of Oak will travel to Kumasi to face Asante Kotoko in the Presidential cup. The cup match had already been postponed twice due to the soggy nature of the Kumasi pitch after a heavy downpour and the bad nature of the Accra Sports Stadium after the pitch was used for series of events. The big and long awaited game finally comes on today and will usher the 2019/2020 Ghana Football Season.

Accra Hearts of Oak will travel to Kumasi with the hope of seeking revenge for losing 5-4 on penalties to the Kumasi based side in the Semifinal of the GFA normalization tournament. A defeat that ended the Phobians dream of playing in Africa after a long time out. Accra Hearts of Oak will have to do this the hard way, they’ll have to do this without the services of star striker Joseph Esso, as rumors of him leaving the club before the new season continues to build and will also be without the services of Skipper Fatawu Mohammed who’s reportedly out because of contrast issues, but there’s still enough in Kim Grant’s Arsenal to cause havoc with the likes of Manaf Umar, Mo Alhassan, Michelle Sarpong, Chris Bonney etc. available for selection. Hearts of Oak are also expected to unleash deadly striker and new signing Bernard Arthur today.

This will be Maxwell Konadu’s first game on the touch line on his return to the club and he would be hoping to push a dagger into the hearts of their noisy rivals. Asante Kotoko would feature young sensational 16-year-old Mathew Anim Cudjoe who’s dubbed the next Messi. The likes of Emmanuel Gyamfi, Augustine Okrah and Ugandan import George Abege will also be available to torment the Phobians and to extend their good record on them recently.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko are defending champions of the President cup. The President cup is played in honor of the sitting president. Asante Kotoko have won it 5 times while arch enemies Hearts of Oak have won it 4 times.

The game will be telecasted on MAX TV at 3Pm.
