Communications Director of King Faisal, Awal Mohammed has disclosed the club has petitioned the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) over the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) decision to dismiss their protest against Tamale City.
King Faisal were condemned to the Access Bank Division One League after finishing in 17th place in the just ended season. The InshaAllah boys finished the season with 42 points, 3 points behind 15th placed Accra Lions.
Nevertheless, the club had hopes of staying in the league due to a pending appeal against the Disciplinary Committee’s decision in their protest case against Tamale City FC.
King Faisal were hoping that the Appeals Committee will overturn the decision of the Disciplinary Committee in regards to their protest against Tamale City for using an unqualified player in their betPawa Premier League Matchweek 30 at the Aliu Mahama Stadium.
The Appeals Committee however affirmed the Disciplinary Committee’s decision, confirming King Faisal’s relegation to the Access Bank Division One League.
In an exclusive interview with Happy FM, spokesperson of King Faisal, Awal Mohammed, revealed that the club has petitioned the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) over the decision of the Ghana FA.
Awal Mohammed stated that the club has presented all the necessary documents to CAS who have acknowledged their protest and written to Ghana’s FA to respond within 21 days.
Should CAS overturn the verdict of the Ghana FA, King Faisal will be reinstated in the Premier League, while Accra Lions will suffer demotion to the Division One League.

King Faisal after the game which they lost 4-0 filed a protest against Tamale City for using an unqualified player in the name of Isaac Mensah.
Per the protest from King Faisal, the above mentioned player has been registered with two different names and Dates of Birth in the FIFA Connect System.
King Faisal in their petition stated that the player was registered with the name Isaac Mensah with his Date of Birth as 20th June 1998 and also registered with the name Jireh Kojo Nissi with his Date of Birth as 21st June 2003, making him unqualified to feature in the Gameweek 30 clash.
The InshaAllah boys were seeking to be declared winners of the game, which could have significantly boosted their survival chances.
