Kashala Wanet hits hat-trick to propel Hearts of Oak to victory against Lazio Spot

Giants Accra Hearts of Oak recorded a 4-1 victory against lower tier side, Lazio Spot in a friendly encounter at the Kpobiman Sports Complex.

Newly appointed Head Coach, Martin Koopman handed starting roles to Richmond Ayi, Michael Ampadu, Dennis Korsah, Winimi Apatasi, Kelvin Osei Asibbey, Raphael Amponsah, Michelle Sarpong, Don Linda Mtange, Kashala Wanet, Evans Adomako and Kwadwo Obeng Jnr.

The Phobians dominated the opening 45 minutes of the game and went into the halftime break with a 1-0 lead, courtesy a goal from Congolese international Kashala Wanet.

At the start of second half, Hearts of Oak doubled their lead through a fine effort from Kashala Wanet but just minutes after going 2-0 up, Lazio Spot scored to reduce the deficit, 2-1.

Hearts of Oak after conceding stepped their game up and scored two more goals in the remaining minutes of the game, Kashala Wanet scored to complete his hat-trick, before Martin Karikari came from the bench to wrap up the win with the fourth, 4-1.

The likes of Amankwaah Baafi, Liventius Arthur, Eric Esso, Glid Otanga, Hamza Issah and Seidu Suraj all featured in the game.

Hearts of Oak arranged the game as part of their preparations for the 2023/24 football season which is scheduled to kick off on Friday, September 15.

The Phobians will begin their season against Real Tamale United (RTU) at the Aliu Mahama Stadium in Tamale.

Last season, the Phobians endured a torrid season, failing to retain the MTN FA Cup and finishing in 12th place on the league table, avoiding relegation on the final day of the season.
