Black Stars new boy Jonathan Sowah hits brace to propel Medeama to Super Cup victory against Dreams FC

Medeama defeated Dreams FC 2-1 at the Cape Coast Stadium to win the 2023 Super Cup/Champions of Champions, a competition reserved for the winners of the previous league title and MTN FA Cup.

Dreams FC started the game better side and had an opportunity to go ahead in the 13th minute, John Antwi was sent through on goal but fired his shot straight into the waiting arms of Felix Kyei.

Medeama grew into the game and went ahead in the 19th minute, Jonathan Sowah collected a pass inside the box, turned around beautifully and struck a low shot into the net.

Five minutes later, the league winners doubled their lead, Jonathan Sowah curled a beautiful shot from outside the box beyond the helpless Augustine Koomson.

Dreams saw more of the ball in the remaining minutes of the first half but failed to create any big opportunity as the game went into the recess 2-0 in favor of Medeama.

At the start of the second half, Jonathan Sowah had two good chances to extend Medeama’s lead but failed to take advantage of any of the chances as the game remained 2-0.

In the 79th minute, Agyenim Boateng Mensah scored from a spot-kick to pull a goal back for Dreams and give the game a frenzy finish but Medeama held on to win 2-1 and win the Champions of Champions.
