Mr. Jacob Partey, Father of Atlético Madrid and Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey has stated that Partey is old enough to make a transfer decision for himself.
Thomas Partey who has a £43.5 million release clause and a contract that runs till 2023 at Atlético Madrid is linked with a move away from the Spanish club, with Arsenal being favorites to secure his services.
Speaking in an interview with Cape Coast based radio Station LIVE 107.5 FM, Mr. Jacob Partey stated that his son Partey is old enough to make transfer decisions for himself.
“I never said my son Partey is going to arsenal because he is old enough now and he can take decision for himself. In anything my son consult me and I tell him what is in my mind.
Jacob Partey added that the world is yet to see the best of his son.
“Partey has not even played anything yet, but he is now going to play better football”, he told Cape Coast radio station LIVE 107.5 FM.
Talking about the Black Stars captaincy that has recently become a very discussed topic, Jacob Partey believes that his son has the qualities to wear the armband for the Black Stars.
“I was very happy when my son got the first national team call up.”
“I will support my son to become the national team captain if the chance come, sometimes captaincy is about seniority. My son is having the qualities a captain should have.”
He added: “Sometimes in football you will have your day and sometimes too you will be flop in a game so when it comes to that I always tell him to be cool.”
He also had an advice for upcoming footballers.
“My advice to the youth is anybody who wish to be a footballer should train very hard, but if you like ladies please you should be a tailor and stop any sports activity.”
Football has resumed in Spain amid coronavirus pandemic, Partey is hoping to feature for Atlético Madrid tomorrow when they travel to San Mames to face Atletico Bilbao.
