Ismail Ganiyu will no longer serve as skipper of Asante Kotoko following reports that he has written to the club wanting his contract with the club to be terminated.
The Porcupine Warriors will now be captained by industrious midfielder Richard Boadu. Center-back Yussif Mubarik will serve as 1st Deputy skipper, Ibrahim Danlad 2nd Deputy, Christopher Netty 3rd Deputy and Cameroonian goalkeeper Moise Pouaty as 4th Deputy.
The aforementioned players will assume leadership roles at the club throughout the 2022/23 football season.

Meanwhile, the Porcupine Warriors are currently in Sudan for a 10-day preseason tour. The team during their time in Sudan will be involved in four high profile friendly games.
Asante Kotoko will play Sudanese Champions Al Hilal Omdurman on two occasions, with the first game to be played on Tuesday, August 23 and the second game on Friday, August 26.
The Porcupine Warriors will then play Tanzanian Champions Simba SC on Sunday, August 28, before playing a yet to be named CAF Confederations Cup participating club on Tuesday, August 30 or Wednesday, August 31.
The friendly games are to prepare the team for the 2022/23 football season. Asante Kotoko have set sights on retaining the betPawa Premier League title, winning the MTN FA Cup and making an impact in the CAF Champions League.
