Ghanaian international Ibrahim Sadiq scored a brace to help BK Häcken defeat Mjällby AIF 4-1 and in the process win the Swedish cup, the 3rd time in the team’s history.
Ibrahim Sadiq scored two quick goals in added time of the first half to give Häcken a 2-0 lead at the break. The Ghanaian international first sneaked behind the Mjällby defense to head in a free-kick from Mikkel Rygaard Jensen, before scoring from close range after was set up by Lars Olden Larsen.
Ibrahim Sadiq failed to return for the second half due to an injury he picked up after scoring his second goal. The 22-year old was replaced by Momodou Sonko and on TV pictures he appeared to have a bandaged left thigh.
In the second half, Mikkel Rygaard Jensen and Samuel Gustafson scored to extend Häcken’s lead, before Max Fenger scored later on to reduce the deficit.
The brace extended Ibrahim Sadiq’s goals in the Swedish cup this season to 7 goals and 9 in all competitive competitions, continuing from where he left off last season.
Ibrahim Sadiq who recently returned from injury and has missed five of Häcken’s first eight games in the Swedish league due to a tear in the back of his thigh will be assessed ahead of Sunday’s game against Malmö FF.
