Ibrahim Sadiq and Ibrabim Osman propel respective teams to victory; Malik provides assist: Performance of Ghanaian players in European competitions

The second leg of the final qualifying round of the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League, Europa League and Europa Conference League were played across Europe from Tuesday to Thursday.

No Ghanaian player featured in the second leg of final qualifying round of the Champions League, while a lot featured in the Europa League and Europa Conference League.

UEFA Europa League

Ibrahim Sadick scored a brace for BK Hacken in their 3-1 away win against Aberdeen, securing a place in the group stages of the competition for the first time in their history.

Malik Abubakar came from the bench to provide an assist for Slovan Bratislava in their 6-2 defeat to Aris Limassol. Zuberu Sharani also featured Slovan Bratislava, while Eric Boakye was in action for Aris Limassol.

Razak Abalora didn’t make the match day squad for Sheriff Tiraspol in their 2-1 win against Klaksvíkar Ítróttarfelag.

Samuel Owusu saw 12 minutes of action for FK Cukaricki in their 3-0 home defeat to Olympiacos.

Ibrahim Mustafa saw 65 minutes of action and picked up a yellow card for LASK in a 1-1 draw against HŠK Zrinjski Mostar.

Europa Conference League

Kwabena Owusu did not make the match day for Ferencváros in their 3-0 home win against FK Zalgiris.

Ibrahim Osman scored the only goal for Nordsjaelland in their 1-0 win against Partizan Belgrade.

Daniel Amartey did not feature for Besiktas against Dynamo Kiev due to an injury.

Alexander Djiku came on in the 83rd minute for Fenerbahce in their 1-0 away win against FC Twente.

Alfred Duncan came on in the 61st minute for Fiorentina in their 2-0 home win against Rapid Wien.

Joseph Paintsil did not play for Genk in their 5-4 penalty win after a 1-0 defeat and 2-2 aggregate draw against Adana Demirspor. Christopher Baah came on in the second half and scored one of Genk’s penalties in the shootout.

Dennis Odoi came on in the final minutes for Club Brugge in their 2-2 comeback draw against Osasuna. Kamal Sowah did not make the match day squad for Club Brugge.

Baba Rahman lasted the entire duration for PAOK in their 4-0 home win against Hearts of Midlothian.
