Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Ibrabim Danlad has apologized for his unsporting behavior in the Premier League gameweek 16 clash against Elmina Sharks at the Ndoum Sports Complex on Monday.

The Porcupine Warriors suffered a 2-1 defeat in the hands of strugglers Elmina Sharks. Kotoko first took the lead in the 38th minute, before Ebenezer Boadi equalized for Sharks in the 43rd minute.

At the start of the second half, Elmina Sharks were awarded a controversial penalty kick. The penalty which was taken by Alhaji Mustapha was saved by Danlad Ibrahim. However, the assistant referee rose his flag and signaled for a retake after Danlad Ibrahim was spotted moving off his line before the penalty was taken.

Danlad, who was unhappy with the decision rushed to the refere in a violent manner to register his displeasure, a move which has been criticized by a plethora of football followers.

The aftermath of the ugly incident saw Ibrahim Moro red carded and the retake calmly converted by Alhaji Mustapha.

In a post sighted by MahamaShaibu.com, Danlad has issued an apology and vowed to learn from the incident.

“Yesterday didn’t go as planned despite the resolve and resilience shown by the entire team. Having taken a deep introspection, I want to sincerely apologize for my conduct in the game. It was an overreaction and will learn lessons from this,” Danlad said in a post.
