In April, there were rumors swirling around that former Ghana and Inter Milan midfielder Sulley Munatri who is currently without a club and had been training with Accra Hearts of Oak for a while now has penned a 2 year deal with the club.
It just didn’t take long for the management of the club to pour cold water on the rumors and deny signing the player, but even a layman is much aware that there’s a connection.
Sulley Muntari since leaving Spanish Division one side Albacete has been without a club. The midfielder since then has been training with Hearts of Oak.
According to South Africa-based agent Sipho Shaven, he has been authorized by Sulley Muntari to look for a club for him in the Premier Soccer League (PSL).
Shaven told KickOff.com: “He has given me a mandate to talk to clubs in South Africa. He is very keen to play in the PSL next season.
“I will be engaging with a few clubs in the next few days to see if there is a chance to bring him to South Africa next season.
“Remember, our league is well respected on the continent and a high-profile player will not turn down an opportunity to play in the PSL.
“He is currently training with Liberty in his home country to keep himself fit. He is a free agent.”
With this revelation, the hope of seeing Muntari don the rainbow colors may have to wait.
Muntari’s availability would alert big spenders Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport United.
Sulley Muntari has featured in 84 games and scored 20 goals for Ghana senior national team.
At club level, Muntari has featured for clubs like Udinese, Sunderland, Portsmouth, Inter Milan and AC Milan. He won the English FA Cup with Portsmouth and was part of the Inter Milan side that won the treble under the tutelage of Jose Mourinho in 2010.
