Accra Hearts of Oak are racing against time to wrap up a deal for AshantiGold midfielder Eric Esso.

Following the injury to midfielder Abdul-Aziz Nurudeen that could see him miss most parts of the upcoming season, Hearts of Oak has been in the market in search for a defensive midfielder.

Hearts of Oak for weeks has been in negotiations with Bechem United to sign Francis Twene. The two clubs reached an agreement for the midfielder. However, a deal couldn’t materialize due to failure to agree personal terms.

Hearts of Oak is reported to have offered Francis Twene a five-year contract. Nevertheless, the player is interested in signing only a three-year contract.

The Phobians after missing out on Francis Twene have turned their attention to AshantiGold midfielder Eric Esso.

Esso is amongst 21 players who were recently granted a stay of execution by the Court of Arbitration of Sports (CAS) after a successful appeal by the Professional Football Association of Ghana (PFAG) through the International Federation of Professional Footballers (FIFPro) in relation to their ban for match fixing.

The Phobians have held positive talks with AshantiGold for the services of the midfielder but are racing against time to wrap up a deal before the transfer window closes on Monday, August 15.
