Hearts Oak defeated Algerian side JS Saoura 2-0 to take advantage into the 2nd leg of final qualifying round of the CAF Confederations Cup.
Salifu Ibrahim and Isaac Agyenim Boateng scored the goals for the Phobians in either half.
Here’s how MahamaShaibu.com rated the players in this hard-fought win.
1. Richard Attah – 6/10
It was just like a holiday for Richard Attah in post for Hearts of Oak. The Black Stars goalkeeper didn’t have much to do in post but rose to the occasion when called upon.
2. Mohammed Fatawu – 7.0/10
Easily the best performance from Mohammed Fatawu in a while, his attacking runs and deliveries made it difficult for JS Saoura on the left flank.
3. James Serwonu – 7.0/10
Stepped in for the injured Robert Addo Sowah and displayed a galant performance in defense. James Serwonu communicated perfectly with his defensive partner, Mohammed Alhassan.
4. Mohammed Alhassan – 7.5/10
Kept things calm at the back in the absence of his regular partner Robert Addo. Mohammed Alhassan defended well and started most of the Phobians’ attack. He played a huge role in the first goal.
5. William Denkyi – 7.5/10
William Denkyi made sure the Hearts of Oak faithfuls didn’t miss regular left back Raddy Ovouka. He was solid in defense and in attack, providing the assist for the second goal.
6. Salim Adams – 7.0/10
Salim Adams was fantastic in an unusual number 6 position. He brought energy and fluidity in the Hearts of Oak midfield, something we haven’t seen in a while.
7. Fredrick Ansah Botchway – 6.5/10
Had to do more defensive work in the middle but that didn’t stop him from dictating the pace of the game from the middle.
8. Salifu Ibrahim – 6.5/10
Scored Hearts of Oak’s first but unfortunately, he was subbed off in the opening minutes of the 2nd half due to an injury.
9. Kofi Kordzi – 6.0/10
Not the best of games for Kofi Kordzi. The giant center forward should have at least scored twice on the day but he failed to take the chances that came his way. However, his physical presence was worrying for the Algerian side.
10. Isaac Mensah – 5.5/10
Isaac Mensah didn’t see much of the ball and should have scored in the 70th minute.
11. Daniel Afriyie – 7.0/10
Daniel Afriyie was like a Thorne in the flesh of the JS Saoura defense. He provided the assist for the first goal and should have also scored.
1. Isaac Agyenim Boateng – 6.5/10
Agyenim Boateng came on for Ibrabim Salifu in the opening minutes of the second half and scored Hearts of Oak’s 2nd goal of the day.
2. Enoch Asubonteng – 5.5/10
Came on in the 65th minute for Isaac Mensah and added more energy in the Hearts of Oak midfield.
3. Raddy Ovouka – N/A
Came on for William Demkyi in the final minutes of the game and had little time to make an impact.
