Hearts of Oak pick narrow win against Mighty Jets in friendly encounter

Accra Hearts of Oak defeated Access Bank Division One League side Mighty Jets 1-0 in a friendly encounter at the Madina Astroturf.

Interim Head Coach, David Ocloo handed starting berth to Richmond Ayi, Fatawu Mohammed, Dennis Korsah, Konadu Yiadom, Robert Addo, Caleb Amankwah, Daniel Kordie, Seidu Suraj, Enoch Asubonteng, Afriyie Barnieh and Junior Kaaba.

Hearts of Oak had a pulsating start to the game and opened the scoring in the 18th minute through Daniel Afriyie, heading home a crossing from Enoch Asubonteng.

The Phobians continued to dominate the game in the remaining minutes of the first half and missed good chances through Daniel Afriyie and Seidu Suraj.

At the start of the second half, David Ocloo made 10 changes to the starting eleven, bringing on Mohammed Alhassan, Zakari Yakubu, Rashid Okine, Samuel Inkoom, Salifu Ibrahim, Kwadwo Obeng Jnr, Gladson Awako, Eric Esso and Geordon Otanga.

Hearts of Oak dominated the second half but failed to take the chances as the game ended 1-0. Richard Attah, Prince Darmain, Gideon Asante, Linda Mtange and Amakwah Baafi were handed minutes in the second half.

The friendly game against the Division One Zone Three side forms part of the team’s preparations for the first leg of 2022/23 second qualifying round game against Mali fold AS Real Bamako in Bamako.

The game is scheduled for Saturday, October 8 at 16:00 GMT.
