Accra Hearts of Oak has parted ways with Head Coach Samuel Boadu and his technical team which is made up of Assistant Hamza Obeng and Goalkeepers trainer Eric Amponsah.
Hearts of Oak decided to part ways with Samuel Boadu following a string of poor performances which goes back to last season, with the latest being a 1-1 draw against bitterest rivals Asante Kotoko
What did the club say?
According to a press statement released on Tuesday afternoon, the club revealed that the decision was made because there is the need for a new direction and the energy to ensure its broader objectives are achieved.
The statement read: “Accra Hearts of Oak Pic has decided to part ways with the entire technical team of the senior team led by Coach Samuel Boadu with immediate effect. The Club is of the opinion that there is the need for a new direction and the energy to ensure its broader objectives are achieved and it feels the time for that new direction is now.
“The Board and management will like to thank Samuel Boadu and his assistants for their contribution to our history and the memories -which will always remain with us. The club will like to wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors.
“In the interim, the coach of the U20 – Samuel Ni Noi who will be assisted by Benjamin Mensah will take charge of the team until a substantive head coach is appointed.
“We wish to assure all fans that, the club is taking all the necessary steps including assistance from our CVCA partners in this effort at restructuring the technical team,” it ended.

What next for the club?
Hearts of Oak in the press statement announced that coach of the U20, Samuel Ni Noi will lead the team momentarily and he will be assisted by the club’s former goalkeeper Benjamin Mensah.
The duo are expected to be on the touchline when Hearts of Oak face Bibiani Gold Stars at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday.
Who replaces Boadu permanently?
Just hours after the sacking of Samuel Boadu, Hearts of Oak who are expected to announce a substantive manager in the coming days are linked with a plethora of managers.
Dutch Coach Erik van der Meer who’s reportedly in the country to be the club’s new technical director is linked to the managerial job. Per reports gathered by MahamaShaibu.com, the Dutch manager is likely to be named new coach.
The 55-year old has previously managed Qatar sides Qatar SC, Al Ahli SC, Hungarian side Budapest Honvéd FC, Ukrainian side Metalurh Donetsk and so on.

Former Asante Kotoko Coach Prosper Narteh Ogum is also considered for the job. The Black Galaxies Assistant manager is heavily admired by Board member Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe and there’s a possibility that Hearts of Oak will make an offer for the former Asante Kotoko coach.
Erstwhile Black Stars and Hearts of Oak winger Laryea Kingston is also linked with the Hearts of Oak managerial job. Laryea recently left his role as youth team coach for Right to Dreams Academy and he’s currently without a team.
What next for Samuel Boadu?
Unfortunate to see a marriage which had a happy beginning end in this manner. Boadu during his less than 2 years stay with Hearts of Oak won the League trophy, two FA cup trophies, the Super Cup and the President Cup.
Samuel Boadu’s next destination is unknown but it is hard to think a manager who’s highly rated in the Ghanaian football circles will be without a club for long. Wouldn’t be a surprise if FC come knocking at his door.
