Hearts of Oak midfielder Abdul-Aziz Nurudeen has made a return to action after more than a year layoff due to injury.
Abdul-Aziz Nurudeen hadn’t featured for the Phobians since May 2022 due to a recurring thigh injury. The hardworking midfielder successfully underwent surgery in South Africa in October 2022.
Following a lengthy rehabilitation, the former Black Meteors midfielder has now fully recuperated from the injury and commenced team training last month.
On Friday, Aziz made his first appearance for the team, coming from the bench to make a huge impact as the Phobians stroll to a 3-1 win in a friendly encounter against his former side Vision FC in a friendly encounter at the All Nations Park in Koforidua.
Speaking after returning from the injury that has hampered his progress at the club since arriving in 2020, Aziz thanked the entire team for supporting him throughout his time of recovery and vowed to give his best for the team in the upcoming season.
Until the injury, Abdul-Aziz Nurudeen was one of the key figures in the Hearts of Oak midfield, helping the team win the 2022 President Cup and FA Cup.
The hard-working midfielder is expected to play a pivotal role for Hearts of Oak in the upcoming season. Hearts have set sights on bouncing back from a torrid 2022/23 season which saw them fail to retain the MTN FA Cup and as well finish in 12th place on the league table, avoiding relegation on the final day of the season.
The Phobians will kickoff the 2023/24 season on Friday, September 15 when they travel to Tamale to face Real Tamale United.
