Head Coach of Black Meteors Ibrabim Tanko invites eight (8) foreign players for Algeria AFCON qualifiers

Black Meteors (U-23) boss, Ibrahim Tanko has has invited eight foreign based players for the final qualifying round of the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations against Algeria.

The invited players include; Abdul Fatawu Issahaku of Sporting Lisbon, Ernest Nuamah of FC Nordsjaelland, FC Basel midfielder Emmanuel Essiam, Emmanuel Yeboah of CFR Cluj and Ibrabim Zubairu of Serbian-based side FK Jedinstvo Ub.

Others include; Alex Sarfo who was part of the team that represented Ghana at the 2022 Toulon tournament and former Hearts of Oak duo, Salim Adams (FC Cincinnati) and Daniel Afriyie Banierh (FC Zurich).

The aforementioned players have all arrived in Accra and have teamed up with the local component ahead of the double header against Algeria.

Ghana will travel to Annaba for the 1st leg on Friday, March 24, 2023 before hosting the North Africans at the Baba Yara Sports stadium on Wednesday, March 28, 2023.

The winner of the two-legged affair will qualify for the U-23 Championship in Morocco which will serve as qualifiers for the 2024 Olympic Games to be held in Paris.

Ghana missed out on the 2020 Olympics in Japan after finishing 4th at the U-23 AFCON in Egypt – 2019. The Black Meteors are yet to play at the Olympic Games since 2004 in Greece.
