Hatayspor confirm death of Sporting Director who went missing with Christian Atsu

Turkish fold Hatayspor FK has confirmed that their Sporting Director, Taner Savut who was trapped under rubble with Ghana’s Chris Atsu has passed on.

Taner Savut and Chris Atsu went missing on Monday, February 6 after two earthquakes measuring magnitudes of 7.8 and 7.5 struck some cities in Turkey and Syria, killing more than 40,000 people and leaving thousands more injured.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of our Sporting Director, Taner Savut. May God have mercy on our teacher, we express our condolences to his family and fans. We will not forget you, Taner teacher. May God rest your soul in heaven. You are always in our hearts,” the club said in a statement.

Taner Savut becomes the 7th person Hatayspor have lost following the earthquake, including Ghanaian international Christian Atsu and juvenile players Hamza Surer and Fatin Can.
