The Greater Accra Regional Football Association (GARFA) has confirmed Auroras’ place in the 2022/33 GARFA Divisional Two middle league.

This comes in after the regional football governing football threw out a protest from Besiktas Football Academy against Union Sportive Avranches.

Auroras finished the regular Division Two season as table toppers in Zone five, securing the feat with 50 points, a point more than second placed Besiktas.

However, the team’s status was in limbo due to a protest from Besiktas against Union Sportive Avranches for using an unqualified coach in their Gameweek 27 fixture.

Besiktas in their protest were seeking to be declared winners of the game they lost 3-2. Nevertheless, the Disciplinary Committee of GARFA after adjudicating the matter threw out the protest.

The development means Auroras’ place in the middle league and status as Zone five champions is confirmed.

Auroras will battle with five other teams who were winners in their respective zones for a single ticket to play in the 2023/24 Access Bank National Division One League.

The teams include; Accra Athletic (Zone One winners), Danbort (Zone Two winners), Banana Inn (Zone Three winners), Desidero (Zone Four winners) and Still Believe (Zone Six winners).

The teams will be divided into two groups (A and B), with each group consisting of three teams. The winners of the group secure a place in the final to decide which team makes it to the Division One League.

The middle league will be launched on Tuesday, June 13 and will kickoff on Saturday, June 17 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
