Black Stars left-back Gideon Mensah did not train with the team in the penultimate training session for the friendly encounter against Liberia at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday, September 12.
The AJ Auxerre left-back didn’t train with the team due to an injury he picked up in the 2-1 comeback win against Central Africa Republic in the final Group E game of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers on Thursday.
Gideon Mensah came from the bench in the 69th minute to help the team secure the win, in the process cementing a place at the AFCON to be played in Ivory Coast in January and February next year.
The injury kept Gideon Mensah out of Sunday’s training session at the Accra Sports Stadium, making him a doubt for Tuesday’s game.

Also, PAOK left-back Baba Rahman is out of the game due to an injury he also picked up in Thursday’s game. In his place, Medeama’s left-back, Fatawu Hamidu has been drafted into the team, earning his maiden call-up.
With Gideon Mensah also injured, Abdul Fatawu Hamidu who played an integral role for Medeama in their title winning campaign is in line to make his Black Stars debut against Liberia.

The friendly game forms part of the team’s preparations for the 2023 AFCON and also the 2026 World Cup qualifiers which kicks off in November this year.
Ghana will also be involved in friendly games in October against Mexico and the United States of America (USA).
