Ghana are left sweating over the availability of reliable center-back Alexander Djiku for the 2022 World Cup to be played in Qatar after suffering an injury with Strasbourg.

Alexander Djiku was handed a starting role for Strasbourg in their pulsating 2-2 draw against Toulouse at the Stadium de Toulouse.

However, the Ghanaian couldn’t complete the game as he was subbed off in the 26 minute after picking what has been reported to be a muscle injury.

The extent of the injury hasn’t been revealed but Ghana will hope the injury doesn’t rule Djiku out of the World Cup.

Alexander Djiku has been an influential figure for the Black Stars since making his debut for the team in October 2020, playing in integral role in the team’s qualification to the World Cup.

The 28-year has been included in the teams’ provisional squad for the World Cup and is expected to make the final the squad, expect of the injury doesn’t rule him out.

Ghana are pitted in Group H alongside Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay.
