Ghana dominate individual awards for the Women’s U-20 WAFU B Cup of Nation, six players make team of the tournament

Ghana won the maiden edition of the WAFU B U-20 Girls Cup by beating Nigeria 3-1 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in normal time.

The Black Stars crowned their impressive feat by dominating the individual awards. Skipper of the team, Stella Nyamekye was named player of the tournament.

Stella Nyamekye made four appearances and scored four goals in the competition. She received three most valuable player awards, including in the final. Compatriot Afi Amenyeku was named best goalkeeper of the competition after saving 3 penalties in the final.

Nigeria goalkeeper Nderline Mgbechie kept the most clean sheets as she conceded only once in five appearances, while Esther Ajakaye was named top scorer of the competition, scoring six goals in her five appearances.

The Black Princesses as well dominated the best eleven of the competition, with six of their players making the team. The players include; Afi Amenyeku, Comfort Yeboah, Sarah Kulible, Fati Fuseini, Success Ameya and Stella Nyamekye.

Nigeria quartet; Chinyere Mercy, Esther Onyenezide, Flourish Sabastine and Esther Opeyemi Ajakaye made the team. Burkina Faso’s Naomi Adele Kabore completed the team.
