Medeama SC displayed a good performance to beat Hearts of Oak 3-1 in the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) Top Six (6).
The Mauves and Yellows handed starting roles to a number of their new signings, whiles Hearts of Oak paraded a youthful team led by Michelle Sarpong.
Medeama had a bright start to the game and opened the scoring in the 21st minute through Darlington Gyan Fosu, his effort deflected off a defender and went inside the net.
A minute later, Medeama extended their lead, new boy Joshua Agyemang tapped the ball into the net from close range.
Medeama could have scored more in the remaining minutes of the first half but goalkeeper Nana Yeboah was at his best to stop the ball from hitting the net.
The Mauves and Yellow extended their lead in the 56th minute, Joshua Agyemang grabbed his second of the day and his team’s third.
In the 63rd minute, Kudus Mohammed scored to give Hearts of Oak hopes of a comeback but Medeama held on to win 3-1.
Hearts of Oak will return to action on Wednesday, August 24 against Berekum Chelsea in the final Group B game.
