GHALCA boss reveals replacement for Asante Kotoko in this year’s Top four competition

Chairman for Ghana League Club Association, Kudjoe Fianoo has confirmed that Bibiani GoldStars will replace Asante Kotoko in this year’s GHALCA Top four tournament.

The replacement comes in after Asante Kotoko withdrew from the competition citing issues surrounding the management of the club, President of GHALCA Kodjoe Fianoo disclosed last week in an interview.

“Yes, it is no more a rumour, we received an official letter from Kotoko yesterday which stated that they can’t participate in the tournament and as we are all aware of the current situation of Kotoko, it’s not a deliberate decision to sabotage the tournament but a genuine one and we have accepted their request,” he told Happy FM.

In the latest development, Kudjoe Fianoo has disclosed that Bibiani GoldStars will replace Asante Kotoko. He further revealed that Dreams, who will be representing Ghana in the upcoming CAF Confederations Cup competition declined the invitation to participate in the competion.

The situation now means Medeama SC, Aduana Stars, Bechem United and Bibiani GoldStars will participate in this years Top four competition.

The preseason tournament which serves as preparatory ground for participating teams heading into the new football season is scheduled to be played from August 6 to August 13 at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Great Olympics won the previous edition after beating Bechem United 2-0 in the final.
