The Champions of Champions is a one off game between the League Champions and the FA Cup winners of the 2022/23 football season, according to Article 9 of the Premier League Regulation (PLR).
The game which serves as a curtain raiser for the new season is scheduled for Sunday, September 3, 2023 at 6pm at the Cape Coast Stadium, a ground which has in the past hosted World Cup qualifiers, African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, and many other top international games and competitions.
Also part of the day’s activities for the Champions of Champions will be a derby between rivals Cape Coast Mysterious Ebusua Dwarfs and Venomous Viper at 3pm.
Last season, the Champions of Champions which was to be played between bitterest rivals Accra Hearts of Oak SC and Asante Kotoko failed to come on due to undisclosed reasons.
In the season before, Accra Hearts of Oak SC were automatically announced winners after annexing the Premier League and the FA Cup titles, exercising Article 9(3) of the Premier League Regulations.
