GFA President confirms talks with Brighton right back Tarique Lamptey over a switch of international allegiance but……

President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku has confirmed that his outfit is currently in talks with Brighton right back Tarique Lamptey over a switch of international allegiance.

Tariq Lamptey, who was born in United Kingdom (UK) to Ghanaian parent has been in fine form for Brighton since joining earlier this year from Chelsea.

The youngster’s performances has attracted the attention of the two nations he’s eligible to play for. However, he has featured for England at Juvenile level (U-18, 19, 20, 21).

Speaking in an interview with Hello FM, the president of the country’s football governing body, Kurt Okraku has confirmed that the FA is possibility of playing for Ghana.

“We are following every top Ghanaian talent you may have seen on your screens,” Okraku told Hello FM.

“Someone like Tariq Lamptey. We have been speaking with his family, to make sure that having identified him as a top talent we will bring him to represent our country.

“In the same vein, other people are also talking to him and his family to represent another country [England].

“The national team is for Ghanaians. It doesn’t mean only those who reside in Ghana, but every Ghanaian across the world.

“For which reason, it would be suicidal for us not to search everywhere in the world to find the right talents for Ghana.”

The federation is also in talks with Anderlecht winger Francis Amuzu, Ajax forward Brain Brobbey, Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah and some few others.
