Former Sports Minister Nii Lante Vanderpuye has called current Sports Minister Isaac Asiamah out for a debate on their achievements in sports.

The former sports minister was on Asempa FM’s sports morning show to discuss the sports promises captured in the NDC manifesto for the 2020 elections.

In the discussion, Nii Lante Vanderpuye called Hon. Isaac Asiamah out for a debate on their achievements in sports.

“I want the minister. Minister to minister so that we debate. Mahama called Akufo-Addo and he is running away and his appointees are also running away. I’m calling for a debate between me and the minister of sports and debate between my ranking member on youth and sports and deputy sports minister Perry Okudzeto,” he told Accra based Asempa FM.

“I won’t allow Akufo-Addo to run away and for Asiamah to also run away. I want a debate at the Accra Sports Stadium”.

Nii Lante went on to call on the government to temper justice with mercy and free Kwasi Nyantakyi who’s currently facing legal charges from the state after his involvement in the Anas Number 12 exposé.

“If people are yearning for free Nyantakyi movement I don’t think there is anything wrong. In this world, I think everybody should be given a second chance.”

“Even God who created us forgives us our sins and offers us a second chance. Even murderers are given the chance in prisons to reform provided they are not killed.”

Nii Lante, who was noted for his hostile relationship with the GFA president during his time as Sports Minister said he had nothing against the former Ghana FA boss, just that they didn’t agree on certain issues.

“I don’t have anything against Nyatakyi as a person, he is my friend and I don’t believe he also has personal thing against me. We only did not agree on the paths to do certain things.

“It means that as human beings our path can cross at any time. He believed this is the way we have been doing things whiles I thought this is how we have to do it, and that should not bring a problem between us,” the former sports minister added.
