The Ethics Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has handed a 2-year ban to the Board Chairman of Bofoakwa Tano FC, Mr. Yaw Boateng Gyan with immediate effect.

This decision was taken by the GFA Ethics Committee after it found Mr. Boateng Gyan’s comments on Accra-based radio station Angel FM to be of defamatory nature.

Yaw Gyan in an interview with Accra-based Angel FM alleged that young defender Evans Andrew Apau, who joined Asante Kotoko at the start of last season was dropped from the Ghana U-20 team for refusing to sign for Dreams FC.

The former member of the Black Stars Management Committee stated that a management member of the U20 team called the player to issue a threat that if the player doesn’t sign for Dreams FC, he will lose his place in the National U-20.

Howbeit, the threat materialized after the player sealed a move to Asante Kotoko.

He further claimed that the conversation between the player and the Management member will be traced and the tape will be presented as evidence to the GFA.

Dreams FC were dissatisfied with the allegations and sent an official complaint to the GFA demanding investigation.

The FA after investigations found Yaw Boateng Gyan guilty. In effect, he was slapped with a 2-year ban and fined GHc5000. He has also been charged to issue a public retraction of the comments.
