Minister of Youth and Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif, has revealed that former Black Stars head coaches, Milovan Rajevac and Charles Kwablan (CK) Akonnor are still owed salary arrears by the government.
CK Akonnor signed a two-year contract to be the new Head Coach of the Black Stars in January 2020. However, he was axed by the Ghana FA in September 2021 after a string of poor results.

The former Black Stars skipper was replaced by Serbian gaffer Milovan Rajevac for his second stint with the team. Howbeit, his tenure was cut short after the Black Stars exited the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in the group stages.
Speaking at a press briefing on Wednesday, July 26, Mustapha Ussif divulged that the two coaches were paid $100,000 respectively immediately after they left their roles but they are still owed by the government.
“We still owe Milovan [Rajevac],” he said at a press briefing on Tuesday.
“All of C.K and Milovan, once their contract was terminated, we sat with them, negotiated their exit and C.K was paid $100,000 immediately after the negotiation same as Milovan.
“We still owe both of them and we have a payment scheduled which I will admit we have not followed because of constraints of funds. As and when we get funds, we will be paying the two coaches.

Per Mustapha Ussif, the two coaches are owed around $400,000. He however added that the two coaches have threatened to take the matter to court.
“Both of them have written to the Ghana Football Association threatening to go to court. We have appealed to them that we are committed to making sure we settle whatever we have agreed with them,” he added.
Ghana after the departure of Milovan Rajevac was managed by Otto Addo who led the team to the 2022 Qatar World Cup but vacated his role after the Mundial.
The Black Stars is currently under the tutelage of Chris Hughton who was the technical advisor to Otto Addo during the Qatar World Cup.
