The world football governing body FIFA has opened disciplinary proceedings against Asante Kotoko for failing to pay a $180,000 fine imposed on them for signing Emmanuel Clottey illegally in 2015.
Asante Kotoko in 2015 where fined by the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) for the illegal signing of Emmanuel Clottey.
The player in 2015 signed for the Ghanaian giants on a free transfer whiles under contract with Esperance, a case Esperance took to CAS and consequently won.
Kotoko and the player were held joint liable and fined $180,000, a fine both parties failed to pay. The club together with Emmanuel Clottey now have just six days to put up a defense.
FIFA also went on to add that the matter will be submitted to a FIFA disciplinary committee on 06 April 2020.
The football governing body warned Kotoko that if they do not put up their defense within the next six days, a FIFA disciplinary committee will decide on the case using the file in it possession.
