Legon Cities shot-stopper and skipper Fatawu Dauda has stated that he is ready to relinquish his captaincy to Ghana’s all-time scorer Asamoah Gyan.
Gyan, who has been without a club since leaving Indian fold North East United in January 2020 and was linked to Asante Kotoko throughout the transfer window signed a year-deal with Legon Cities on transfer deadline day.
Making a return to the domestic top-flight league after 17 years of being away. Gyan previously played in the domestic top-flight league for Liberty Professionals in 2003, scoring 10 goals in 16 games before leaving the side to join Italian outfit Udinese.
Dauda, who played with Gyan at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and is currently the skipper of Legon Cities has disclosed that he is ready to relinquish his captaincy to “senior” Asamoah Gyan.
“I will not hesitate to relinquish my captaincy to Asamoah Gyan. I don’t need management of Legon Cities to tell me that, he’s my senior and I need to give him that respect unless he doesn’t want it. I will give him the band anytime he’s on the pitch,” Fatau Dauda told Oyerepa FM.
Legon Cities will begin their season on November 13 with a home game against Berekum Chelsea at the Accra Sports Stadium.
