The Black Stars of Ghana will travel to Luanda for the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) without the service of skipper Andre Ayew.

Andre Ayew has been ruled out of the game due to a knee injury he suffered on Thursday. The Nottingham Forest forward slipped on his way to the dressing room and hurt his knee.

Following an MRI scan, it’s been revealed that Ayew will be unable to feature for Ghana on Monday and will return to his team for treatment.

Alexander Djiku will also miss the game after suffering an injury in the final minutes of the 1-0 win against Angola. Mohammed Saliu and Denis Odoi will also miss the game due injuries.

The Black Stars will depart Accra on Saturday afternoon for Luanda ahead of the match on Monday, March 27, 2023.

A win in the game will cement Ghana’s place at the 2023 AFCON to be played in Ivory Coast in January 2024.
