News coming in from South Africa indicates that Ghanaian center back Edwin Gyimah has left Black Leopards camp and won’t be available for the Absa Premiership Promotion/Relegation Play-Offs.
Edwin Gyimah’s Black Leopards finished bottom-last in the 2019/20 Absa Premiership season. Black Leopards will now be involved in a mini-league playoff with National First Division 2nd and 3rd placed sides, Ajax Cape Town and Tshakhuma to determine the team to join the other 15 sides in the elite league.
Quoting to South African website FARPost, Gyimah reportedly left camp without informing anyone at the club after their 3-0 defeat to champions Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday and has since not made contact with anyone at the club.
He apparently requested to be replaced during the match against Sundowns and his wish was granted. Instead of leaving with the team bus with the rest of his teammates, he was picked up by a white car outside of the stadium.
More information is that he forced his way into the hotel to fetch his belongings and also pushed security personnel to get out.
“He is not here with us (at bio-bubble) but we don’t know where he is and how he got out,” said the club’s senior official Tshifhiwa “Chief” Thidiela.
When contacted for a comment, Edwin Gyimah is reportedly to have said that he is no longer part of Leopards, but refused to comment further as he was not in a good space.
It still remains unclear what prompted the 29-year-old to leave camp at this crucial time of the season for Black Leopards. MahamaShaibu.com will follow the situation closely and keep you updated.
Black Leopards earlier today defeated Ajax Cape Town 1-0 in the first game of the playoffs.
