Ghana will know their fate for the final tournament of the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship, Algeria 2022 in a draw scheduled to take place in Algiers on Saturday, October 1, 2022.
The Black Galaxies secured qualification to the competition after beating Benin and Nigeria in the first and second round of the qualifiers respectively.
Ghana defeated Benin 4-0 on aggregate in the first round, winning 3-0 in Cape Coast and 1-0 in Porto Novo. In the second round, Ghana edged Nigeria on penalty shootouts after a 2-2 aggregate draw.
The Black Galaxies together with 17 other teams will know their fate for the group stages of the competition in draw to be conducted live at Opera House of Algiers at 18:00 GMT.
The 18 participating teams will be divided into three groups of four teams (Groups A, B & C) and two groups of three teams (Groups D & E).
All the teams will be divided into three different pots, based on CAF ranking regarding their performance in the last three editions of the CHAN tournament.
Based on this ranking, the 3 highest ranked teams are allocated to Pot 1 with Algeria (Host Country) in A1 and Morocco (the holder of the title) in C1. Pot 2 contains 5 teams of level 2 and Pot 3 contains the least ranked teams, where Ghana has been pitted.
The draw will be conducted by Mohamed Nasnoush (Libya), Aymen Mathlouthi (Tunisia), Robert Kidiaba (DR Congo), Albelmoumene Djabou (Algeria), Hytham Mustafa, Mohamed Tahir (Sudan) and Emmanuel Agyeman-Badu (Ghana).
The CHAN is scheduled for 13 January to 4 February 2023 in Algeria.
