Did Ghana pay $80,000 for yellow cards accumulated at the Qatar 2022 World Cup?

Spokesperson of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum has disclosed that his outfit paid 80,000 USD (US dollars) for yellow cards accumulated by the Black Stars at the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The Black Stars at the World Cup failed to live up to expectations, bowing out of the competition in the group stages after losing 3-2 to Portugal in the first game, beating South Korea 3-2 in the second game and losing 2-0 to Uruguay in the final game.

Per Henry Asante Twum, Ghana paid 10,000 USD for a yellow card received at the competition. The team in their three games received 8 yellow cards, amounting to 80,000 USD.

“We paid 80,000 USD for yellow cards acquisition at the 2022 World Cup,” Henry said on Angel TV.

Ghana in the first game against Portugal picked up four yellow cards. Mohammed Kudus, skipper Andre Ayew, Alidu Seidu and Inaki Williams were the players cautioned.

In the second game against South Korea, Ghana received two yellow cards and two more against Uruguay in the final game. Daniel Amartey and Tariq Lamptey were cautioned against Korea, while Alidu Seidu and Kamaldeen Sulemana were cautioned against Uruguay.

Per findings by MahamaShaibu.com, teams at the World Cup including Ghana paid 10,000 Swiss francs which is slightly more than 10,000 USD for a yellow card at the World Cup.

The findings mean Ghana paid 80,000 Swiss francs, representing slightly more than 80,000 USD for the eight yellow cards received at the competition, confirming the revelation made by Henry Asante Twum.
