Dazzling Black Stars do light work on Switzerland in final preparatory game for the Qatar 2022 World Cup

The Black Stars of Ghana defeated Switzerland 2-0 in their final preparatory for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Head Coach of Ghana, Otto Addo named a strong lineup, handing starting roles to some regular and fresh faces. Salis Abdul Samed, Elisha Owusu and Daniel Afriyie Barnieh were handed their debut starts.

The first half of the game saw no goals but wasn’t short of excitement. Ghana saw more of the ball and created the best chances.

Inaki Williams and Mohammed Salisu came close to scoring for Ghana from set piece situations in the 32nd and 43rd minutes respectively. The Black Stars also had a legitimate penalty call turned down after Daniel Afriyie was tripped in the box.

At the start of the second half, Switzerland saw more of the ball and threatened the Ghana post from a Noah Okafor effort.

The Black Stars stepped their performance up and were rewarded with the opener in the 70th minute, Mohammed Salisu headed a rebound from his own effort into the net.

Four minutes later, Ghana extended their lead through substitute Antoine Semenyo. The Bristol City forward was at the right place to finish off a good work by Kamaldeen Sulemana down the left flank.

The remaining minutes of the game saw no goals as it ended 2-0 in favor of Ghana.

The two countries will now turn their attention to the World Cup which kicks off this weekend.

Switzerland will kickoff their campaign on Thursday, November 24 against Cameroon, while Ghana will play Portugal on the same day.
